Rare C8.R Championship Edition Prototype Available Now

Used as a promotional vehicle and displayed at high-profile events

The eighth-generation Corvette, launched in 2020, marked a historic shift to a mid-engine layout—a realization of Zora Arkus-Duntov’s long-standing vision as the original Corvette chief engineer. To honor the Corvette C8.R’s dominance during its debut 2020 IMSA GTLM season, Chevrolet introduced the C8.R Championship Edition, which is limited to just 1,000 units.

Currently listed on Bring A Trailer is a rare pre-production example of the C8.R Championship Edition with only 97 miles on the odometer. Used by Chevrolet for promotional purposes, this car appeared at several high-profile events, including the 2021 Petit Le Mans, the Detroit Grand Prix, and the 6 Hours of the Glen. It was even featured in the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R brochure.

This 2021 Corvette Stingray coupe is finished in Accelerate Yellow Metallic, complemented by Carbon Flash and Midnight Silver stinger stripes on the hood. Additional exterior details include a Carbon Flash-painted high-wing spoiler, front splitter, rocker accents, and mirrors, along with a carbon fiber removable roof panel, LED headlights, rear parking sensors, and quad exhaust outlets integrated into the rear valance. It rides on black 19- and 20-inch Trident wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and comes equipped with the Z51 Performance Package.

The interior features Competition Sport bucket seats, upholstered in black leather and Sky Cool Gray fabric with Strike Yellow accents and yellow stitching. Key features include climate-controlled and power-adjustable seating, dual-zone automatic climate control, yellow seatbelts, front and rear cameras, and a premium infotainment system with navigation and a 14-speaker Bose Performance Series audio setup. A special C8.R Edition plaque between the seats denotes the serial number “01EX.”

Powering this C8 Corvette is the mid-mounted LT2 6.2-liter V8 engine, producing 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle and an optional electronic limited-slip differential.
