FOR SALE: 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible L72 427/425

Equipped with a L72 427/425 HP V8 engine

The 1966 Chevrolet Corvette marked a significant evolution in the iconic model’s history, building on the advancements introduced with the 1965 lineup. These included four-wheel disc brakes and the game-changing 396 CI Mark IV big-block engine. In 1966, Chevrolet upped the ante by introducing the larger 427 CI V8, adding even more power to the sleek and futuristic StingRay design.

A well-preserved example of this classic, a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible, is currently listed for sale on Bring A Trailer. Finished in Milano Maroon, this car features a body-color removable hardtop, a black convertible soft top, and several distinctive design elements such as a domed hood, flip-up headlights, chrome bumpers, fender vents, side-exit exhaust, and a retractable antenna.

The car rides on 15-inch turbine-style aluminum wheels with knock-off spinners, fitted with Vredestein Sprint Classics tires sized 245/70. The second-generation Corvette (C2) was the first to feature a fully independent suspension system, combining upper and lower control arms at the front with a three-link rear setup and a transverse leaf spring. The 1966 model also benefits from four-wheel disc brakes, with power steering and a booster added during refurbishment.

The cabin has been reupholstered and features black vinyl bucket seats, matching door panels, and carpets. Comfort and convenience amenities include power windows, a heater, an AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and lap belts.

Under the hood is the 427 CI L72 V8 engine, equipped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor. This powerhouse was factory-rated at 425 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential.
