Dealer Asks $85,000 For Wrecked 2024 Corvette Z06 & Gets Roasted On An Open Fire

It will take a Festivus miracle to get this C8 Z06 sold, but 'tis the season to have hope!

The wise chemical-enhanced Jeff Spicoli once said, “Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman; he’s got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.” However, in the case of this smashed-up C8 Z06, it will take more than determination and a toolbox to get her right. When a dealer recently posted this 2024 Z06 on a popular Facebook for sale page, he got roasted worse than chestnuts on an open fire. [Author’s Note: This article is FREE and not behind a paywall. Let’s take a look at the dealer’s post and a few more pictures; then, we’ll get to some of the fun stuff.

A quick walkaround is in order.

So, just how bad has this dealer been roasted? Well, the for-sale listing has blown up and garnered 690+ reactions, and as you might expect, the overwhelming majority of the Facebook folks are laughing at this optimistic dealer (nearly 80%, to be exact).

As the listing approached nearly 300 comments, this was the general consensus.

I scrolled through the 300+ posts looking for an outlier, and I found just one. As you’ll note, Anthony’s premise was quickly shot down.

The retail market for a 2024 Z06 3LZ with all the carbon fiber goodies is accessible to the public, so I thought this would be a good time to show you some of the exclusive wholesale reports CorvSport publishes bi-monthly. First, let’s look at the “MMR” for a 2024 3LZ Z06. In simple terms, the MMR is a number calculated by the top dealer-only wholesale auction in the country and is primarily based on previous transactions for the same vehicle.

As you can see, Anthony’s math above doesn’t work out unless $115,000ish sunk in a C8 Z06 with a branded title is your thing. If you’d like to take a deeper dive and explore CorvSport’s exclusive wholesale market reports, our recent special Z06 edition will give you a great start (every installment has our full archives of previous reports).

Well, just how much did this dealer pay for this 2024 Z06? One astute poster found the salvage auction listing and indicated it sold for less than the buy-it-now price of $63,000. Would you touch this 2024 Z06 for $60,000?

We’re going to wrap up this feature with two informed posts from this Facebook Corvette community. The first, from Berin, nails the logic regarding the value of salvaged vehicles. Then, Paul gives us a quick reminder of the process for salvaged vehicles. Back in the day, when I was a used car dealer, I tried to avoid vehicles with branded titles due to the logistics mentioned below.

In my 17 years of experience, it just wasn’t worth the hassle of inventorying cars like this, no matter how much of a deal they appeared to be. For one, the banks were hesitant to finance them, and if you got that far, the insurance companies were reluctant to insure them with full coverage.

Paul reminds another member of the title work still needed for this wrecked salvage title Z06. First, the Z06 must be fixed; then, depending on the buyer’s state, the process to get the final branded title continues.
