The LS7 in the sixth-generation Z06 gave enthusiasts the last naturally aspirated engine for the iconic performance variant, and those seven liters of greatness helped the C6 Z06 rip off quarter-mile runs in the 11-second range. Car and Driver was so impressed after the 2007 Z06 hit their benchmark Lightning Lap in under three minutes that they exclaimed, “The Z06’s 2:58.2 lap made it the first Lightning Lapper to get around VIR’s Grand Course in less than three minutes, which is all the more remarkable considering it does not have the sticky, racing-type tires the 911 GT3 enjoys.” CorvSport ranked all of the sixteen Corvettes to run the Lightning Lap at Virginia International Raceway, which included three C6 Z06s, and you can read more here.
