1) 2025 Corvette ZR1 Overview
- Powertrain: A flat-plane crank (FPC) twin-turbocharged 5.5 liter LT7,
- Power: A whopping 1,064 HP with 828 lb-ft of torque! Record milestone numbers for the brand.
- Performance: “Significantly faster than 212 mph” and “under a 10-second quarter mile,”
- Pricing: Car and Driver reports a starting price in the range of $180,000 to $205,000,
- Transmission: A “strengthened” 8-speed TREMEC DCT (from Stingray & Z06),
- Dry Weights: 3,670 lbs (Coupe) and 3,758 lbs (Convertible)
- Availability: The 2025 model year is confirmed.
- Torque Monster: Nearly all its torque, 800 lb-ft, is available from 3,000 to 6,500 RPMs!
- The first turbocharged Corvette ever!
- The first factory Corvette to surpass 1,000 HP!
- The most powerful V8 ever produced in America by an auto manufacturer.
- No electric motors are on the front wheels; speculation is the hybrid will be reserved for the ZORA.
- There is an 8000 RPM redline (down 600 from the C8 Z06’s LT6 to accommodate the turbos).
- According to Tadge Juechter, the LT7 has numerous engineering upgrades, including thicker forged titanium rods, and there is no cylinder deactivation.
- The iconic Split Window design is back!
2) Cool Features That Differentiate The ZR1
- The beast behind the creation, the nearly all-new twin-turbocharged flat-plane crank 5.5 liter LT7
- There is no storage frunk. This area is now used for aerodynamics and cooling, with the aggressive highly-engineered heat-extracting hood releasing air sucked in from the large front grill. Air will flow through two new additional “gigantic” radiators where the traditional C8 frunk used to be.
- The C8 ZR1 adds four new air inlets, two for each side. The two located on the end of the boomerang (seen below) are for rear brake cooling. The ZR1 Coupe will have two additional air inlets on the rear hatch, acting as air intakes for the twin turbos.
The large hatch nostrils are air inlets for the twin turbos and are only available on the ZTK-equipped ZR1 Coupe.
- The iconic Split Window design is back!
- There is a new design for the carbon fiber wheels.
- The wing for the ZTK option is HUGE!
3) A Reminder Of The Numerous Engine Speculations and Rumors
CorvSport has been tracking these engine rumors and speculations for months, and now we can finally update our exhaustive list!
- LT7 Twin-Turbo based on the flat-plane crank 5.5L LT6 out of the C8 Z06: TRUE
- All other speculations and rumors below are now proven to be FALSE
- 670hp LT6 in concert with the E-Ray’s 160hp 1.9 kWh electric motor on the front wheels
- 900+hp LT6-based flat-plane crank Twin-Turbo with TWO electric motors
- 6.2L cross-plane crank V8 (most likely with twin turbos)
- 5.5L cross-plane crank Twin-Turbo LT7 with VVT and AFM
