Corvettes at the 2024 HSR Mitty

From April 25 to April 28, Historic Sportscar Racing celebrated its 46th anniversary.

2024 marks the 46th anniversary of the Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Mitty.

This year, the event highlighted “The Cars of Japan” as the Featured Marque, featuring iconic cars from major Japanese auto manufacturers with a significant history in American sports car racing dating back to the 1960s. Vehicles included:

  • Datsun 1600 and 2000 roadsters
  • Datsun 510 sedan and Nissan 240Z
  • Datsun B210
  • Mazda 767B prototype
  • 1991 Mazda RX7, and more.

Other race events included Global GT, GT Modern, and the Sasco Sports International/American Challenge races.

  • Todd Treffert claimed victories in two feature races, winning the B.R.M. Endurance Challenge and the SascoSports race, driving his 901 Shop 1972 No. 14 Porsche 911.
  • Cory Friedman and Shannon Heford both secured double victories during the Mitty weekend, winning the Global GT race and the GT Modern B.R.M. Endurance Challenge in their 2016 No. 515 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
  • Former NASCAR star Joe Nemechek won three races in the Gene Felton Memorial Challenge.
  • The Cars of Japan Feature Race highlighted iconic Japanese vehicles.
  • Gary Stanberry’s dramatic last-lap win in the Sasco Sports race.
  • David Hinton, the event’s grand marshal, was honored for his contributions to HSR.
