When the mid-engine eighth-generation Corvette hit the scene in 2020, it satisfied the speed cravings of most enthusiasts. Now, four years down the line, it still packs a punch with its naturally aspirated, mid-mounted 6.2-liter LT2 V-8, boasting 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque.
But for those hungry for more power in their C8 Corvettes, Hennessey offers a solution: the H700 supercharger package. This upgrade takes your Corvette to a whole new level, boosting it to 708 horsepower and 638 pound-feet of torque.
Compared to the stock engine, Hennessey’s H700 delivers a remarkable 44 percent increase in horsepower and a 37 percent increase in torque. While the 38 horsepower advantage over the C8 Z06’s 670 horsepower naturally aspirated 5.5-liter LT6 flat-plane crank V8 might not seem substantial, the 178 pound-feet increase in torque will certainly make its presence felt with NHRA-level thrust, pinning you back in your seat at takeoff.
And to show proof just how fast the H700 C8 Corvette is, Hennessey decided to line it up against one of the hottest electric vehicles on the market today, the Tesla Cybertruck. For comparison, the Tesla Cybertruck featured in this showdown is equipped with a dual-motor AWD that produces 600 horsepower. Tesla is also offering a Cyberbeast version which features a tri-motor setup with 845 horsepower. The Tesla Cybertruck is also at a disadvantage when it comes to weight as it weighs 6,603 lbs (2,995 kg) versus the Corvette’s 3,467 lbs (1,576 kg).
