Introduced in 2006 following the unveiling of the C6 in 2005, the sixth-generation Z06, manufactured until 2013, represented the pinnacle of naturally aspirated Corvettes. Solely available in coupe form, it utilized a hydro-formed aluminum chassis featuring magnesium rollover protection and engine cradle, making it the lightest Corvette in its lineage.
However, the true marvel lay beneath its carbon-fiber hood, embodied in the form of the new all-aluminum LS7 pushrod V-8 engine. This engine boasted 4.125-inch diameter pressed-in steel cylinder liners, titanium connecting rods and intake valves, 11.0:1 compression ratio, and a dry-sump oiling system with remote 8-quart reservoir.
With an output of 505 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque, the Z06 surged through a dedicated 6-speed manual transmission, propelling it from 0 to 60 MPH in 3.7 seconds and reaching a top speed nearing 200 MPH.
