The 1958 Corvettes retained the same mechanical structure as the 1957 models, but their appearance was completely new. Notable changes included the introduction of quad headlights, a hood with decorative simulated cooling louvers, and a rear deck lid adorned with chrome trim “tusks,” reflecting the prevailing trend in the industry for more extravagant ornamentation.
Internally, the dashboard was redesigned, positioning all instruments directly in front of the driver, and a grab bar was added for the passenger’s assistance during what Zora Arkus-Duntov would have referred to as “advanced handling maneuvers.”
This particular example is one of the most aesthetically pleasing color combinations of 1958, featuring Inca Silver with white coves. It also includes a white factory hardtop, a black soft top bound in correct vinyl, Daytona-weave carpeting, rubber floor mats, clock, and AM radio. Powering this example is the formidable 290-horsepower 283 V-8, equipped with fuel injection and a solid lifter cam, paired with a four-speed manual transmission.
