Created and designed by B Rod or Custom and rendered by Erick Borckmeyer Design, this exceptional custom widebody C2 Corvette made waves at the 2019 SEMA show. It all began with a unique Street Shop mandrel-bent 2×4 steel tube chassis, widened by 3 inches, and equipped with C7 suspension components, 1.75-inch rear sway bars, and Flaming River power rack-and-pinion steering.
The need for a broader custom chassis led to the creation of a completely new C2-style body. Lee Bumb Composites produced press-molded fiberglass components for the roof deck, hood surround, hood, firewall, exhaust panel, and tail light panel. B Rod or Custom added new front and rear floor elements, quarter panels, door jambs and skins, body jambs and rocker covers, fenders, park light and lower valance, inner fenders, and spoiler/splitter. The exterior received a custom Vanguard Candy Green Pearl paint job by Axalta Hot Hues.
The interior boasts a bespoke tan leather design by Steve Holcomb’s Pro Auto Interiors. Key features include the Ididit tilt steering column with cruise control and Billet Specialties steering wheel, Rockford Fosgate speakers and amplifier, Custom 36-spoke knock-off style wheels designed by B Rod and built by Forgeline, Vintage Air front runner pulley system, and custom Vanguard badging by Motor Head Jewelry.
The core of this custom creation resides in the tailor-made frame, hosting a 2018 LS7 427 CI V-8 crate motor. Outfitted with a Brian Tooley racing camshaft, Lokar LS Classic twin throttle bodies, and one-of-a-kind fuel rails and breather cover by Dan Baker’s Alumicraft Grilles, the engine’s cooling needs are met by a DeWitts radiator. Efficiently transferring power, the contemporary LS7 engine is paired with a TCI 6X 6-speed automatic transmission featuring steering-mounted paddle shifters.
