It was always going to be a special race. 100 years have passed since the first running of the 24h of Le Mans. A race known all over the world as the pinnacle of endurance racing, a challenge for drivers, mechanics and teams alike, and more importantly, a stage for manufacturers to fight tooth and nail to claim superiority over their peers, a battleground for Chevrolet, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Porsche to seek dominance in the most hotly contested of classes.

Wins for the C5-R, C6-R and C7R had seen strong performances over the years from Corvette, but the C8-R had not yet stood atop the highly prized Le Mans podium, a best finish of 2nd in 2021 the closest they had come to claiming the honors. In the final year of the GTE-spec class at Le Mans, before the new era of GT3 spec racing begins in 2024, there was much to fight for, to leave a stamp in the history books and continue the success that Chevrolet had enjoyed over the previous decades.
