Sometimes the numbers still blow me away. When will the Corvette market settle down, or will it ever? This beautiful Accelerate Yellow Z06 had an MSRP of $172,555, so the new owner had to pay a premium of $45,645 to grab this “lightly used” Z06 (not including the auction buy fee). With a base price of “only” $118,850, the $52,310 in options is starting to get into Porsche-like territory for having numerous high-dollar options.
TheStradman chose Doug DeMuro’s newer auction platform Cars And Bids to sell his infamous Z, and the auction garnered an impressive 306,000 views, much of which could probably be attributed to TheStradman’s 4 million plus subscribers. Perhaps showing confidence in the market, or the internet celebrity status of this particular Z06, TheStradman chose to list his Z07 equipped Z at “No Reserve”, and it paid off. This is also notable given some of the controversy surrounding the stunning Z.
For one, there was confusion over why a transmission leak dumped fluid all over TheStradman’s “bat cave” garage (only accessible by a large elevator!). There was also some internet skepticism about whether the vehicle was broken in properly. TheStradman also, by his own admission, procrastinated in registering and paying sales tax so there was a delay in getting the title in (which once again led to buzz about shady title issues). Lastly, due to his quick flip, the new owner would not receive a warranty. Our own Simon covered that decision by GM here.
The warranty issues may be a moot point as the new buyer “climat” plans to track it. This Z06 was the subject of many videos but featured below is probably one of the more popular ones. At around 2:30 there is a cool part showing how to safely put the Z in neutral, and kudos to GM for sending a whole crew to get it. In another video TheStradman goes to some lengths to correct the falsehoods spread on the internet, even calling out a popular corvette forum directly.vibrant discussion over on our Facebook page, I would love to see you there! The paperwork was good and as TheStradman puts it, all the disclosure and transparency was part of what he called his “journalistic integrity”. And I agree, congrats to TheStradman for a strong sale! We often have a
