Corvette Of The Day: 1968 Chevrolet Corvette “The Big Banana”

The Big Banana was built on a 1968 Chevrolet Corvette. This modified Corvette was designed and built by Car Craft Magazine’s publisher at the time. The car features extensive modifications that included IMSA-style widened fenders and an adjustable rear deck spoiler. What made this Corvette even more unique is its one-of-a-kind custom paint that was done by J&D Corvette in Bellflower, California.

Aside from its awesome looks, the Corvette is also impressive when it comes to performance. The 350ci V-8 sitting underneath its bulging hood has been modified to deliver the best performance and handling so the car be both flexible in traffic and on the highway. The Big Banana has been featured heavily on numerous magazines in the 1970s and became a source of inspiration for other custom and streety car builders at the time.
