The 6th National Corvette Caravan Is Scheduled for August 28-31, 2019!
Next month, from August 28-31, 2019, the National Corvette Museum will host one of the world’s largest moving automotive events – The 6th National Corvette Caravan! The NCC is a celebration of America’s Sports Car and serves as the milestone anniversary celebration of the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The event is only hosted once every five years, and this year’s event recognizes a significant milestone anniversary – the Museum’s 25th Anniversary!
Each year, the National Corvette Museum hosts a participant focused event on Labor Day Weekend to recognize and celebrate the Grand Opening of the Museum, which first opened its doors on September 2, 1994. It seemed only appropriate that the Museum would celebrate such a momentous anniversary as this by inviting Corvette owners and enthusiasts from across the country to caravan to Bowling Green.
The weekend festivities officially begins on Thursday, August 29th, though the Corvette Caravans will arrive throughout the day on Wednesday, August 28th. I will be joining the Tennessee/Kentucky caravan this year as we make our way to Bowling Green on the 28th (and let me say that I am all kinds of excited about this event!)
Once in Bowling Green, registered attendees can participate in three days of activities in and around the National Corvette Museum. Thursday evening registered attendees will be treated to a concert featuring Jefferson Starship. The concert will be held at the Museum’s outdoor Amphitheater and will conclude with a fireworks show. The concert is included with the registration and is open to ALL registered participants.
Friday evening will feature the Museum’s annual Corvette Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet, which is being presented this year by the 2019 New England Caravan. As in years past, the Museum will welcome new members into the prestigious and elite group of recipients who have made significant contributions to the Corvette. (NOTE: This event is SOLD OUT – please contact the Museum if you wish to be added to the wait list.)
This year’s Hall of Fame inductees are Dollie Cole, Briggs Cunningham and Tom Peters.
On Friday night, the Museum will also feature “Friday Dinner & Dancing” in downtown Bowling Green at the La Gala Event Venue. This event will feature a full meal and music by the band “Bueler’s Day Off.” Pre-registration for this event is required.
On Saturday evening, the event will culminate with the “Party Like It’s 1994“ mixer, complete with food, music and fun. (NOTE: This event is SOLD OUT – please contact the Museum if you wish to be added to the wait list.) On Saturday, the Museum will also host the “Saturday Get Down at La Gala” in downtown Bowling Green at the La Gala Event Venue. This event will feature dinner and dancing with Bowling Green’s very own “Tyrone Dunn & the Kinfoke.” Pre-registration for this event is also required.
A complete itinerary of the weekend is listed below.
Just as they did in 2014, the NCM is once more offering reserved parking at the four-day event for a $500 donation to the Museum. For 2019, the $500 donation will provide visitors access to a reserved parking lot from Wednesday thru Saturday during the week of the event. However, assigned parking spaces will not be provided. Instead, attendees will be able to park their Corvettes in any open spot throughout the lot. Please note that the donations ARE NOT refundable.
