Brooks Weisblat, known for his YouTube channel Drag Times, paid a visit to the Triple F Collection crew for an extraordinary racing showdown. The races were set between a C8 Z06, a Ferrari 458, and the renowned LaFerrari.
In the first race, the Z06 went head-to-head with the 458, which is equipped with a smaller engine (4.5 liters compared to the Corvette’s 5.5 liters), lower power output, less torque, and one fewer gear in the transmission. With its 562 horsepower, the 458 falls short by more than 100 horsepower when compared to the impressive 670 horsepower of the ‘Vette. Moreover, its torque of 398 lb-ft (540 Nm) fails to make a lasting impression in 2023, especially when pitted against the Z06’s robust 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) generated by a dual-clutch eight-speed automatic transmission.
Given these numbers, it was clear that the 458 was destined to be outperformed, and indeed it was during the race.
After completely destroying the 458, the Corvette then faces off against the ultimate Ferrari, a hybrid supercar packing 950 horsepower (963 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) total torque. Despite having a good launch, the C8 Z06 was still beaten by the more powerful LaFerrari.
